A little over a year ago, we caught our first Pop Evil show at the NorVa. They were the slated openers for Three Days Grace and when I researched the bands pre-concert, I was impressed with their heavy hitting, true rock sound and my teenage sons fell in love with them, playing their Youtube music videos frequently for a few months. Pop Evil came back to visit Norfolk this past weekend as headliners, and they brought company from Michigan with them in the form of fellow rock band Citizen Zero.

Recently signed to a record label this year, Citizen Zero’s vocalist Josh LeMay brings a soulful voice and thoughtful lyrics in combination with an anthemic sound that melds perfectly with Pop Evil. Their debut album is “State of Mind”, and the track to listen to, “Go( Let Me Save You)”, has a mature and polished feel that draws you in. Having opened in the past for the likes of Kid Rock, ZZ Top, and Halestorm, Citizen Zero is capturing attention as they tour across the country and they are on the line up to perform at the huge Carolina Rebellion music festival in May 2017.

Citizen Zero definitely made new fans Saturday night, and they are a friendly, low key group of fellows that took time to mingle with fans after their set.

Pop Evil makes no apologies when they take to the stage, with dynamic frontman Leigh Kakaty delivering a hard hitting, in-your-face delivery on radio hits such as “Trenches”, “Footsteps”, and “Torn to Pieces”. Introducing incredibly eye catching new drummer Hayley Cramer on this tour, Pop Evil continues to promote 2015’s strong album “UP” and is now ranked #4 on Billboard’s 2016 Mainstream Rock Artists list. Congratulations to Pop Evil for their continued hard work and their rise to the top! Overall, this concert was flawless and these bands deliver exactly what you want…and next time, my sons insist on coming to the show with me.

  1. Wondering how or whom I may need to contact as I can’t find a picture of myself with three days grace from the aforementioned first show that pop evil played opening for. I can email pic of me with signed cards if necessary.

    1. Pop Evil was the headliner for this event. I have never seen Three Days Grace. You may need to inquire with contributor for that particular show ?
