Festival Preview: City Folk Fest // Sept. 13 – 17

Article by: Adrienne Row – Smith

Canada’s capital is going to have an amazing five days of music from September 13th to the 17th provided by City Folk Fest. To give a little taste of the fantastic line-up, which pulls from all genres, the Festival has got; Ruth B and Post Malone on September 13, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Nightsweats and Jack Johnson on September 14, Son Little, Broken Social Scene and Big Thief  on September 15, Father John Misty, The Philosopher Kings, and Royal Canoe on September 16, and for the final evening the festival has got Rodriguez, Tank and The Bangas, and Nefe!

The festival also has some slight changes to last year, as the number of stages has downsized from having multiple main stages throughout Lansdowne down to two; the City Stage and the Ravenlaw Stage. This will guarantee larger crowds for the artists, and for the crowds to have more time to discover their new favourite artist.

While these five days are going to be jam packed, City Folk is also giving back to the local music community by hosting Marvfest, which is a collection of free shows that run from September 15 to 16, and take place all over the city. So it is safe to say that from September 14 to 17th Ottawa is going to be dominated by amazing sounds, and something that should definitely be checked out!

A full line up for each day of the main folk fest is provided below, and you can head over to City Folk Fest to check out the location and times for Marvfest artists!
