Atlanta, GA – Within The Ruins and friends made a pit stop in Purgatory at the Masquerade this last Tuesday.

Starting with a bang, Currents brought the energy to kick off the evening. This Connecticut based metal band goes heavy with both their sound and lyrics. Playing a few hits form their most recent album The Place I Feel Safest along with some old favorites such as “Anxiety.” Following was Aversion Crown, a death-core band from Brisbane Australia who continued to amp up the heavy sound and twisted stage presence. They got the crowd moving to songs from their latest release Xenocide and older banger hits from Tyrant. The final opener was Enterprise Earth, another death-core band but this time from Washington. They brought a chilling stage performance with an impressive range of vocals and instruments from their latest release Embodiment.

Then our headliner for the evening, Within The Ruins, brought the house down. Their amazing light show, insane vocals, and energetic stage performance got the entire crowd moshing. As a band that got their start almost 15 years ago, these Massachusetts metalheads had a lot of content to play through, and the fan base was loving every song. The crescendo moment from the evening was the band playing all four parts of Ataxia, which hit home for long time fans. This show was hard, rocking, and down right dirty and left everyone satisfied at the end of the night.

Since first picking up a camera while traveling overseas in 2015, Andrea Chvatal has found taking photos to be a nature combination with her love of live musical performances. Though she most enjoys the energy and unpredictability of the metal and rock genres, she has a high appreciation of live music in general. Her favorite aspect to capture is the raw emotion behind both the artist and the crowd at each show.
