John 5 and The Creatures // Live @ The Drunken Unicorn // 2.3.18

Atlanta, GA – John 5 & The Creatures’ show in Atlanta was a cathartic experience of sorts. Jamming out at a dive-bar like setting that sits next to a tattoo parlor seems like an incredibly rock-n-roll thing to do, and so, John 5 did just that. Packed wall to wall, A-Town’s The Drunken Unicorn proved too small to hold in John 5’s crowd, let alone his towering tunes. Nonetheless, the night turned into a bevy of highlights that rocked the socks off the masses time and time again.

Among the memorable moments set forth by J5&TC were a daring cover of iconic “Enter Sandman” by Metallica (which invoked a feeling of rock-n-roll history in the making), the overall spooky rock-star idiosyncrasies that John 5 has come to be known for, a cornucopia of badass guitars that just get more outlandish as the night rolls on, and, of course a “holy shit!” evening-closing rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” that journeyed us all down a joyous nostalgic path that will soon not be forgotten.

John 5 has built a career around a reputation of sporting Halloween-like makeup on stage, his snazzy arsenal of guitars (which include one that literally shoots out lasers as he shreds), and a leading contributor to Rob Zombie, but don’t let all this flash fool you. John 5 is a maestro of his craft, he’s a goddamn rock-star with or without the additional ornaments. Given the chance, go check his live pageantry … and get your mind blown.
