The songs are based on Dhavvan’s recovery from leukemia, and focus on music as an instrument of healing. Tobias the Owl’s songs have been covered by many artists, including Jonah Tolchin (Yep Roc Records) and Swiss songwriter, Jesper Zabell. TTO’s songs have been featured on television and in feature film soundtracks, and have been played at Starbucks stores worldwide. Frequent collaborators with Tobias the Owl include violinist Andrew Joslyn (Macklemore, David Bazan), percussionist Scott Siever (Aimee Mann, Tenacious D), and guitarist Tim Van Buren (Mary Lambert). Currently, TTO is in the studio working on a new album that features performances by Ben Harper, Laura Veirs, and Inara George.
