It was an energetic show Thursday night at Irving Plaza, as two Nashville natives took the stage to an enthusiastic crowd at the NYC venue (and on a schoolnight!). Firekid, an electro-bluegrass duo fronted by singer/songwriter, Dillon Hodges, effortlessly got the fast growing audience of hip, city-dwelling twenty-somethings moving while playing songs from their upcoming self-titled release, due out Sept. 25th. A band that’s been labeled as one of the best new bands on the scene, they’re one to watch out for.
Headlining the show was Nashville’s soulful and eclectic indie rock band, Moon Taxi. Founded in 2006, The five piece kept the night going with jam friendly melodies and rhythms, loosely reminiscent of fellow Nashville indie act Kings of Leon. Stay tuned for the Oct. 2nd release of their latest record, Daybreaker.
