AUSTIN, TX — The 26th season of Blues on The Green brought yet another stellar lineup this summer with an Austin City Limits Festival preview show that featured local Austin artists Max Frost and Wild Child.
Hundreds of fans made their way to Zilker Park and by the looks of it, you’d think it was ACL Fest because of the sheer amount of people in the crowd. Max Frost started off the evening with his blues and hip-hop style of music to get the crowd pumped. Frost is a one-man band as he plays the keyboard, drums, electric guitar and bass guitar during his live shows, and plays a variety of other instruments off the stage. Getting into music at a young age, he began playing live shows at the age of 12. Frost has come a long way to get to where he is now. In September of 2015 he released his second EP Intoxication by Atlantic Records. He performed songs from that EP such as, “Let Me Down Easy,” “Paranoia,” and his latest single “Withdrawal.” Looking back at the crowd was quite the view, as everybody was moving to the music. To end his set, he threw it back to his first EP Low High Low and performed his single, “White Lies.”
No stranger to the Austin crowd and the very local popular band Wild Child took the stage next. Wild Child has a very mellow sound that can quickly change from soft to an upbeat tempo dance sound. Their performance had the crowd dancing through the night. They got the crowd to sing along for their song, “Cocaine Hurricane,” off their first self-recorded album Pillow Talk.
They brought their horn section on stage midway through their set with one member wearing a giraffe one-sie and he kept it on through the rest of the set. Max Frost joined Wild Child to perform their song “Break Bones,” which is produced by Frost himself and is also on their latest album Fools. Wild Child will embark on their journey this summer as they tour through the United States, playing at numerous music festivals including Lollapalooza in Chicago, Illinois on July 28th. They will soon be back in their hometown of Austin, Texas for the Austin City Limits Music Festival on October 1st .
