Circa Survive and Saosin vocalist Anthony Green embarked on his Pixie Queen Tour with a stop in Austin, Texas at The Mohawk. The show began with Ohio band Secret Space and Michigan native Mat Kerekes taking the stage.

Consisting of three members — Dean, Zach and Steven — Secret Space hail from Toledo, Ohio and have released their debut album The Window Room, which they have been supporting while on tour. Secret Space gave the crowd a little taste of the modern indie pop and 90s emo rock to prepare them for Anthony Greens set later in the night.

Mat Kerekes and his band took the stage next, which the venue gathered in more people making it nearly full right before Anthony Green took the stage. His latest album Luna & the Wild Blue Everything was released this past summer which was written by Kerekes over a seven month period. He managed to change and set the mood differently between many songs. At one point people were super quiet and swaying side to side, at other times, people were just jamming out to a heavy riff or solo being performed.

As Mat Kerekes left the stage, fans eagerly waited for Anthony Green to come on next. Green just released his latest solo album Pixie Queen on September 9th which was produced by Will Yip, who he has worked with in the past. A burst of screams and cheers erupted as he and his band ran up on stage, and phones lifted in the air for photos and videos of his first song, “You’ll Be Fine,” from the Pixie Queen album.

In between songs Green made the joke of asking the crowd about how many people might be having sex in the apartment complex across the street. There may have been those one or two fans that showed up hoping he would sing a Circa Survive song or two, but he decided to only play solo material. He mostly performed songs off his latest album Pixie Queen and his 2008 debut solo album Avalon.

With the crowd singing along to every word of “She Loves Me So,” and a few others he performed from Avalon, it looks like his material from his first album was more favored than his latest, which is fair seeing as Avalon was the first look of him as a solo artist and Pixie Queen was only just released. Green threw it back to Avalon and ended the night with “Devil’s Song (This Feels Like a Nightmare).” Green has just a few more tour dates for The Pixie Queen tour, ending with a show in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on October 1st.
