Red Sun Rising // Live @ House of Blues // 1.31.17 CONCERT REVIEWS FEATURED MUSIC by Abigail Buckler - February 7, 2017 Article and Photos by: Abigail Buckler Las Vegas, NV – Red Sun Rising came through Las Vegas last fall supporting Sevendust so it was a pleasant surprise to see they were returning so soon, this time supporting Pop Evil. Still out touring on their debut album, Polyester Zeal, one of the things that was most surprising were the number of people there just to see Red Sun Rising. Many of the fans on the front rail expressed they were there solely for this band and it is easy to see why they have developed such a following in a relatively short time. Red Sun Rising is a solid rock band from Ohio. Their songs like “Amnesia” “Emotionless” the “The Otherside” are mainstreams on rock radio. With only one full length album released to date, you are sure to hear these songs and they were performed so well you could have been listening to the CD. In addition, to the songs from Polyester Zeal, Red Sun Rising covers Alanis Morissette’s “Uninvited.” Their version is unique and haunting in the way it is performed and it makes the audience slowdown and feel the emotion. Lead singer Mike Protich told the packed crowd that this was their last tour before they go into the studio to begin recording their second album and they have been working on some material already. This was exciting because it meant they were about to treat the crowd to a new track they were working on. This new track had a very Led Zeppelin feel which really excited the crowd for the new upcoming release. With only one album to draw material from one might be tempted to think the shows would be repetitive from tour to tour. This was not the case. This set was arranged completely differently from the last tour. It still delivered quality music that is not overdone or not sounding like the album, but it wasn’t a carbon copy of the last shows. The band is energetic and commands attention from the stage. The 45 minute set was excellent start to finish and they gained more fans this night. Many people remarked that they couldn’t wait to see them again. I don’t think it will be long before we see Red Sun Rising headlining a date in Las Vegas, hopefully after the release of their sophomore album.
