Las Vegas, NV – It’s a Sunday night and the crowd arrives to see Cracker at the Brooklyn Bowl. No opening act just Cracker which is appreciated by this working crowd, for a Sunday night it is a respectable draw.
Cracker is an alternative rock band hailing from Bakersfield, CA. Their most commercial successes came as part of the Grunge movement in the early 90’s, but their career has continued on. The sound of this band is varied, certain songs have a very alternative rock or grunge sound while others bring in a heavy country, blues and folk influence.
The band takes the stage and singer David Lowery and guitarist Johnny Hickman launch into the set, starting off with songs that seem to have that strong country folk influence including “Euro-Trash Girl.” Hickman’s guitar playing commands the stage and gets the crowd cheering after each solo. While there are a few members of the crowd who seem to only be familiar with their 90’s grunge heavy radio play singles the majority of the crowd seems to be familiar with their entire catalog singing along to all the songs. For those who want to hear “Teen Angst (What the World Needs Now)” and “Low” they get those too near the end of the hour and a half set. Lowery and Hickman delivered a set that provided the fans with what they wanted while introducing others to the sound of Cracker.
