Bad Suns // Live @ Wonder Ballroom / 10.13.17 CONCERT REVIEWS FEATURED MUSIC by Kristina Dawn - October 19, 2017October 19, 2017 Article and Photos by: Kristina Dawn Most consider Friday the 13th a traditionally unlucky day. But for the Bad Suns fans of Portland, OR it was quite the opposite. Drones of glitter faced fans lined the blocks surrounding The Wonder Ballroom, antsy to get inside and snag that front row spot. Southern California alt-rock group HUNNY did not disappoint with their nearly 40 minute opening set. The band had a bit of a Lost Boys or 80’s English vibe about them; dark, mysterious, and unbelievably cool. Playing tracks off of their EP’s Windows I and Pain / Ache / Loving, like their most popular ’70s inspired hit, “Televised.” Bad Suns stormed the stage to “Disappear Here,” the first track off of their latest record of the same title. Lead singer Christo Bowman’s cheeks painted in the same gold glitter as the die hard fans lining the front of the stage. Their set was a fantastic mix of new and old. Playing crowd favorites from their first LP Language & Perspective like “Dancing on Quicksand” and “Cardiac Arrest,” which got them national radio attention back in 2013. But the highlight of the night was undoubtedly when Christo himself walked effortlessly on a sea of hands during “Sleep Paralysis.” It’s no surprise that Bad Suns put on an incredibly energetic and passionate live show. You can tell that every member of this band is fully immersed in every song of every one of their shows. The Love Like Revenge Fall Tour runs until mid November, tickets are still on sale at http://badsuns.tumblr.com/tourdates. Grab ’em while you can!
