Flobots // Live @ Hi-Fi / Indianapolis, IN / 1.13.18 CONCERT REVIEWS FEATURED MUSIC by Nick Durcholz - January 18, 2018January 18, 2018 Article and Photos by: Nick Durcholz Indianapolis, IN — Winter Storm Hunter’s frigid phalanges were loosened on the Circle City this weekend as Tropidelic and Flobots turned the Hi-Fi into an aural furnace. Tropidelic started off strong searing through the snow and ice with skaggae tunes and warp-speed rhymes. Not sure if it was the music or the moves that instantly set the vibe of the place ablaze. These boys can dance! Flobots made their entrance with their own brand of smoldering energy. A perfectly balanced Molotov cocktail of fun and poignant unity. They kept the mood light while inspiring community in these turbulent times in lyric and banter. Speaking of balance, Brer Rabbit (Stephen Brackett) and Jonny 5 (Jamie Laurie) are an exquisite vocal PB & J. Musically, the whole band performed exceptionally but the oxygen to the Flobot’s instrumental bonfire was guest violinist, the fiery fairy of the strings: Sarah Hubbard. The crowd was treated to a mix of old and new track from “Mayday!!!” to “Dancing in the Light of a Burning City (Phoenixes).” Simply put, their refreshing, volatile contribution to the contemporary musical climate makes Flobots the future.
