Miami, FL –  Located in the heart of Miami, emo-punk fans of Coheed and Cambria and Taking Back Sunday made their way through the Miami traffic to fill the Bayfront Park Amphitheater as the bands kicked off their Summer Co-Headline Amphitheater Tour.

With support from The Story So Far the night kicked off with spirit.  Although lacking some stage presence, the American pop-punk band from Walnut Creek, CA was able to intrigue the audience with their performance of their latest single “Out of It” to gain some new South Florida fans.  They are currently working on their fourth studio album and made a great supporting band choice for the co-headliners.

Up next was Taking Back Sunday, an American rock band from Long Island. Lead by frontman Adam Lazzara, the band kicked off their career spanning set with “What’s It Feel Like to Be a Ghost?”  Lazzara’s stage antics kept energies high, often spinning his microphone round and round as it wrapped around his neck.  Their set made great use of the stage’s lighting design to suit the mood of the band’s fifteen-year music catalog.  Fans cheered non-stop between songs, but it was fan favorite “Tidal Wave” that fans truly anticipated.

Last, but definitely not least was Coheed and Cambria, a progressive rock band from Nyack, NY.  They were promoting their new single “Unheavenly Creatures” (Live Debut) and ninth studio album by same name. I was excited to see them since I’m personally a fan of a lot of their songs. Their intro was very theatrical, with a heavy sci-fi feel, which did not surprise me since their sound has always been very unique.

Most of Coheed and Cambria’s albums are concept albums based on a sci-fi story line called The Armory Wars, which was created by Claudio Sanchez, their lead singer and guitarist. He even has comic book line for them.  Once they began to play “Ten Speed,” their fans erupted with excitement. Once one of their slower, acoustic performances began, for “Wake Up,” their fans gathered around and just enjoyed watching their amazing performance.  They ended their set performing “Welcome Home” where the entire venue was on their feet, going crazy and chanting their signature “woahhhh” chant.

Coheed and Cambria are just as good live as they are in the studio, which is the main reason why fans were treated to an amazing performance, and also the reason why they were left wanting more. They cheered for an encore that, unfortunately, would never come. So much was their desire for an encore that they waited until the venue lights came on, undoubtedly waiting to hear an in-demand song, “Here to Mars.”

Coheed and Cambria and Taking Back Sunday will continue their outdoor summer tour through the US until mid-August. Definitely check them out in a city near you.
