Newport News, VA – Travers Brothership began just as their name suggests.  Eric and Kyle Travers are twin brothers that have been making music together and performing since they were 13 years old.  Being a successful band in the hotbed of music that Asheville, NC is known for is no easy feat, but the brothers found their groove with Ian McIsaac and Josh Clark joining the band in 2014 — and the rest is history. Their hard work and musical prowess have provided them the opportunity to make the rounds in the United States and they will be paying Europe a visit for tour dates in 2019.  No band member is a one trick pony; They all have multiple talents to display on the stage and can crush three part harmonies on one song, and swap instruments the next. Their unique, funky southern rock sound has helped them share the stage with acts such as Taj Mahal, Blues Traveler, Trombone Shorty, Dr. John, and many others renowned acts.

At Tradition Brewing Company, the audience was treated to two full sets of the Travers Brothership. The band kept people’s feet moving with the rock solid rhythm section comprised of Eric Travers on drums, Ian McIsaac on percussion, and Josh Clark holding down the low end. Josh’s ability to belt out lyrics is only surpassed by his Joe Dart-esque, steeped in the funk, bass lines that help give the four-piece band the presence of a much larger band.  Drummer Eric Travers led the lyrics charge on a few songs which is is not seen too often in performances. When Ian McIsaac wasn’t helping keep the rhythm of the grooves on percussion, he rounded out the sound with keys and synthesizer which brought a very psychedelic vibe to the night.  Kyle Travers kept us all guessing at what he would be showcasing next: his vocals, keyboards, or guitar with the option to throw some smooth as butter slide guitar in his solos.  The band played music from their award winning album A Way To Survive and sprinkled in the occasional cover including a song by funk masters Vulfpeck and even throwing in a Santana tease prior to a thundering drum solo.

There is a reason these guys have been winning awards for years and were selected for the “On The Rise” section in Relix magazine.  Keep an eye out for this talented band!

By day, Sean is an engineer for the U.S. Navy, and by night, there is a high likelihood he’ll be taking pics and grooving to the sounds of music at venues around the country. The remainder of the time, he can be found in the mountains or at the beach with a board under his feet or doing his part to keep local breweries in business. www.instagram.com/eyeofthestormphoto www.eyeofthestormphoto.net
