Festival Preview: The Festy Experience

With the fall season swiftly approaching, temperatures are dropping and leaves are changing which couldn’t be a more perfect prelude to a music festival set in Virginia’s beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.  The 9th Festy Experience will be kicking off on Friday October 5th on Infinity Downs Farm in Arrington, Virginia, home of the phenomenal Lockn’ Festival, and will wrap up on the night of October 7th. The Festy Experience is a Bluegrass and Americana festival that is jam packed with musical talent with headliners Greensky Bluegrass, The Sam Bush Band, and Railroad Earth. Some of the other notable acts joining the festivities are The Hackensaw Boys, Fruition, The Lil Smokies, the legendary Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder, and guitar phenom Billy Strings.

The Festy Experience is not limited to just music, though. The organizers have made sure to make this a family friendly festival with kids 12 and under getting free entry.  There will be a multitude of activities available for kids of all ages including nature walks on the farm’s trails, a goat farm, magic shows, and many arts and crafts activities throughout the weekend.  For the older “kids”, there is a 5k and 10k run, disc golf, hiking, yoga classes, and local, sustainable breweries and food vendors to keep everyone happy and full.

Camping accommodations range from roughing it in the woods like a grizzled camping veteran, to glamping, where your tent with a bed on a frame will be ready for you upon arrival, and everything in between.

Tickets are still available for this and more information on the festival can be found at https://www.thefesty.com/.

Sean Chagnon
By day, Sean is an engineer for the U.S. Navy, and by night, there is a high likelihood he’ll be taking pics and grooving to the sounds of music at venues around the country. The remainder of the time, he can be found in the mountains or at the beach with a board under his feet or doing his part to keep local breweries in business. www.instagram.com/eyeofthestormphoto www.eyeofthestormphoto.net
