Pensacola, FL – Florida natives The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus made it back to Pensacola for yet another show at Vinyl Music Hall this past Thursday night. By the end of the evening, the 800-capacity two-story venue was filled to the brim with enthusiastic fans.

Local band Hopout! got the crowd warmed up instantly with their upbeat pop-punk songs. They describe themselves as a blend of pop-punk, rock and roll, and blues – each music genre is prominent in each of their which gives each track a unique sound that is different from the last. Their most well-known track “Famous” was a huge hit with the crowd!

Next to take the stage was another Pensacola local band, Rise Up Lights. Being new to Pensacola, it was great getting to check out some of the local talent that can be found in the area. With notable influences from bands like The Used and Thursday, Rise Up Lights had nonstop energy from the moment they stepped on stage. During their set, I couldn’t help but feel like I was back in time ten years ago listening to one of my favorite post-hardcore bands. Their music brought on waves of happy nostalgia and based on how much the crowd loved them I could bet they felt the same!

The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus made their way to the stage around 9:30pm and the crowd went absolutely wild. A very underrated band, they have had countless hit singles over the years and even had multiple songs appear on soundtracks for TV shows and movies. There was never a dull moment during their hour-long performance. Even during their slow songs, they had the audience locked in and mesmerized by their music. Among the crowd favorites were popular tracks including “Face Down,” “My Guardian Angel,” and “False Pretense.” They closed out the night by playing the first song they ever recorded together as a band (and apparently their longest song to date) – The Grimm Goodbye.

I highly recommend catching The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus in concert the next time they are in a city near you as well as checking out Hopout! and Rise Up Lights on Spotify.

Sam Fallone: Sam has been very passionate about music since a young age - growing up with parents crazy about artists like Third Eye Blind, Blink-182, and Weezer. That spark for music never left and as she got older she had the desire to give concert photography a try. She enjoys being able to combine her love of photography with her love of music and loves the challenge of getting the perfect shot. She currently lives in Florida where she’s a zookeeper by day and concert photographer by night. In her spare time she loves going to the beach, hiking, reading, and is currently learning to play the drums!
