Song Review: In Earnest – “Come Upstairs” ALBUM REVIEWS MUSIC by Sam Fallone - July 2, 2020July 19, 2020 Article by: Sam Fallone UK-based indie band In Earnest is set to release their second single “Come Upstairs” this Friday, July 3. “Come Upstairs” is a very emotional song about mental health and dealing with depression. The instrumentals throughout the song are beautiful and go perfectly with Thomas’s soothing voice. “Come Upstairs” is written from the perspective of one who has a partner dealing with depression. The lyrics are so deep and full of meaning, using metaphors like ‘sinking ship’ to describe the effects of depression. This is something that many can relate to from either perspective. Those that are struggling with depression can listen to this song and realize that they are not alone. I think it is important to be able to create music that centers on topics such as mental health and In Earnest did such a beautiful job doing so. Fans of Bright Eyes would especially enjoy this track. In Earnest will be hosting a live streaming party to kick-off the launch of their second single. You can join them on either Facebook or Instagram at @inearnestband.
