Baltimore, MD – The Pier Six Pavilion was home to the first stop in the long awaited first Yellowcard‘s 20th-anniversary tour for Ocean Avenue! The huge amphitheater venue is located in the heart of Baltimore City, surrounded by the waters of the Chesapeake Bay. The intense heat did not stop the dedicated fans from standing in line. The sold-out tour’s line was wrapped all the way around the venue and down the long street.
To set things of, This Wild Life took to the stage. They branded themselves has the “Hot Topic Mumford and sons.” With their wonderful stage presence and music, the California natives, won the hearts of many new fans. Definitely don’t sleep on this band. With many new songs and a tour in the fall, we are anxiously awaiting what is to come from them.
Next, was the Story of the Year. The eighteen year old band played a mix of old and new songs that got the crowd so hyped up. Opening with one of their most recent songs, “Tear Me to Pieces,” they set the tone from their first chord for how this show was going to go. Energetic, fun, and with plenty of crowd engagement, they were able to keep it up for their entire set. As soon as they played their most popular song, ‘Until the Day I Die’ at the end of their set, the crowd went ecstatic.
Then, it was Mayday Parade‘s turn to take to the stage! As the crowd sang their heart’s out, you could hear the echoes bouncing of the amphitheater’s walls which surely gave everyone goosebumps! We got treated to a new song being played for the first time called, “Got Me All Wrong.” During mid set, lead singer, Derrick, thanked everyone of coming out and supporting live music. He also gave a life reminder to be kind to everyone and take care of each other.
Finally, Yellowcard took to the stage! The cheers and excitement busted out from the audience as soon as they came on the stage. To say the fans were so eager and ready for this show is an understatement. It felt like the seven year break up never even happened! Ryan was blown away by the first night of their return tour being sold-out and kept thanking everyone for making it out and supporting them. The stage’s setup was impressive, to say the least, with the large screens on the back of the stage being fully utilized throughout the entire show. Weaving in many songs from their whole discography proved that even after all these years as a band, the fans still love the Yellowcard. We were treated to everything from their most popular songs, to a new live debut for their new single, “Childhood Eyes”. What a night to remember!
All in all, the show lived up to the expectations set by having four headliner quality bands playing a sold-out show, at one of the most largest venues in Maryland. Be sure to check out this tour it does not disappoint
