Brooklyn, NY – On Wednesday night, instrumental duo Zombi stopped by TV Eye while on the road in support of their new album, Direct Inject.

Opening the show was Overcalc, a solo act featuring a one-man-band of guitar, synth, and drum backing tracks. The artist’s songs were melodic while still packing a punch of distorted electric guitar. The music’s unique sound was delivered from a stack of amplifiers on stage, and served as the perfect set up for what was to be a fantastic night of music. Overcalc has a handful of east coast shows coming up later this month that you can check out here.

Zombi’s set started with the sounds of pounding drums and smooth synth, instantly grabbing the audience’s attention. Their performance quickly swung into full gear with thumping drums and chunky bass enveloping the room in a trance of music. The crowd excitedly stood right up against the stage, grooving out for the band’s entire set. The duo also showed off their musical range by seamlessly incorporating synth, bass, and saxophone into their songs, sometimes playing multiple instruments at the same time. “Thank you for coming out tonight, New York! It means the world to us” said the band between songs. Zombi’s North American tour wraps up on April 13th with a show in Pittsburgh, PA at Certain Death II.
