New York City – On Tuesday night, Australian heavy metal band Northlane came through NYC with a show that won’t soon be forgotten. Despite the 90+ degree heat, a line of eager fans stretched around the block at Irving Plaza before doors were even open. Feeding off the crowd’s excitement, Northlane tore into their set by kicking off with “Carbonized.” The venue was immediately filled with moshing, crowd surfing, and fans throwing up devil horns. The group kept the momentum high by going right into “Intuition,” during which vocalist Marcus Bridge grabbed an audience member’s phone and recorded a selfie while singing.

Equally as mesmerizing as the group’s musicianship was their perfectly choreographed light show. Multiple screens behind the band cast intense strobes, moody shadows, and an assortment of colors that perfectly complemented each song. Even one of their guitarists, Jonathon Deiley, wore an interactive mask with light up eyes. “New York! You always bring so much energy, but tonight is another level. We’re having the most fun we’ve had on a U.S. tour. Can we play another new song for you?” said the band before playing Kraft, a cut off their new EP Mirror’s Edge.

Northlane’s extensive North American tour continues through the end of this month. You can check out all their dates on their website.
