Austin, TX — On August 15th, 2024, LA-based band Wallows brought their unmatched stage presence to Moody Center. The band consists of Dylan Minnette, Braedan Lemasters, and Cole Preston. For the North American leg of their headlining tour, named after their new album Model, they brought along solo artist BENEE. She was the perfect opener for this tour because of her appeal to the Gen Z crowd. Full of spirited attitude and energy she captured the audience with her lovely vocals and alternative pop beats.
In preparation for the Wallows set, a black curtain was put up with their name scrawled across it in white letters. Behind the curtain, Minnette started off the show by singing an acapella version of “Do Not Wait.” A silhouette of the band was seen through the curtain leading to the thousands of fans screaming with excitement. As soon as the curtain dropped, the group of three flowed into a full rendition of “Do Not Wait.”
Infectious melodies and high energy filled the arena for the entirety of set. Each time I see this group, I am amazed by how thoughtful their performance is. For example, Minnette made his way through the crowd during “She’s An Actress” eventually meeting Lemasters and Preston who appeared on a stage at the back of the floor. I appreciate this from a fan perspective because it made their set feel more intimate. Overall, I would highly recommend watching this band live because they always put on an awesome show.
