Anaheim, CA – Calling All Captains, the pop-punk/post-hardcore band from Alberta, Canada, is celebrating a decade of music-making, and their recent performance at Chain Reaction in Anaheim, California, was a powerful reflection of their journey. During the show, lead vocalist Luc shared an inspiring memory from 2019 when they released their Nothing Grows Here EP and performed for just four people. Despite the small crowd, those fans knew every lyric, which deeply moved Luc. He recalled, “That moment literally brought me to tears on stage because we had no idea that this could lead to all of this. If you’re dreaming about something, if there’s something on your mind that you want to do, we’re living proof that you can do it. We’re all the way from Canada. Just set your heart on something and don’t let it go.”
This performance wasn’t their first time at Chain Reaction. Luc also reflected on an earlier show at the venue, where they played to an even smaller crowd. The growth of their audience since then has been incredibly inspiring for the band. What began with a handful of dedicated fans has evolved into a room full of passionate supporters, showcasing their hard work, resilience, and the strong connection they’ve built with their audience over the years.
Now on their e(motion) sickness North American tour, Calling All Captains is showcasing their new EP, released on July 19, 2024. Tracks like “Skin & Bones,” which addresses themes of feeling unwanted and abandoned, have resonated deeply with fans. The band’s blend of raw emotion and high-energy performances continues to push boundaries. Songs from the new EP, such as “Wallflower” and “Be Cool,” highlight their seamless fusion of pop-punk, emo, and post-hardcore elements.
