CHARLOTTE, NC — Dizgo brought their high-energy, genre-blending sound to Charlotte for a vibrant performance. With their infectious grooves and dynamic stage presence, Dizgo continues to rise up the ranks of the road. The band played the same venue seven months ago, with easily double the crowd for this night’s show.

Charlotte progressive hard rock band Once Below Joy opened the night with a set of intricate original tunes. Opening with the title track of their debut EP,  “Through the Fog,” the band showed the growing crowd their Rush-meets-Mars-Volta style. The rest of their set was made up of yet to be released tracks, with the exception of their latest single, “Texas Toast.”

Dizgo kicked off their set with a pair of newer songs, only heard so far at shows or their recent live album “Live in Atlanta.” Starting with “Curio,” the group delivered an infectious hook with strong vocal harmonies, leading into “Never On Time.” As the swirling jam section morphed into an ethereal trance, they suddenly shifted into overdrive with a cover of Phish’s “Axilla Part II,” whipping the crowd into a dancing frenzy.

The biggest surprise of the evening for fans was a cover of Blackstreet’s 1996 R&B hit “No Diggity,” with an extended 11-minute jam, punctuated by a dazzling light show, turning the performance into an immersive experience. Another newer track, “Orbital” brought the show its spaciest level, with synthesizer effects and effect-laden vocals trading off with subtle, airy guitar lines. Dizgo signed off for the night with the only song they played at their last Charlotte show, “It’s Alright,” the opening track from their latest studio album, Melt, released at the beginning of 2024.

Check Dizgo’s social media for tour dates and festivals in 2025, their live show is one to be experienced.
