Silverstein & Thursday // Live @ HISTORY – Toronto // 2.14.2025 CONCERT REVIEWS FEATURED MUSIC by Quinn Nelligan - February 18, 2025 Article and Photos by: Quinn Nelligan Toronto, Ontario – Love for live music filled the air at HISTORY Toronto this Valentine’s Day as Silverstein brought their 25 Years of Noise tour back to the Greater Toronto Area for a spectacular hometown show. Despite the weather over the previous days and incoming snow storm, fans sold out the venue to sing and dance together making for a great night with a bunch of nostalgia mixed in. The show kicked off with Split Chain, bringing their love for nu-metal and grunge to Canada for the first time all the way from Bristol, UK. Their set was full of energy, giving the crowd a taste for what the rest of the night had in store. Next to take the stage was Arm’s Length, another Ontario band that brought together a more midwest-emo vibe into the mix. The energy in the room continued to grow as fans moshed and crowd surfed their way through the set. Thursday was up next, bringing their love of post-hardcore all the way from New Jersey. This band was a powerhouse, using the entire stage to their advantage and very clearly having a great time. Before their song “Signals over The Air”, vocalist Geoff Rickly gave a heartfelt message to the fans, mentioning how usually before this song he would speak about health care but instead sharing; “Every person has the right to identify with whatever sex, sexuality and gender they see fit. It doesn’t f*****g matter who’s in charge of your country. We need to look out for each other.” The rest of their set was a wonderful mix of some of their older tunes, keeping in with the 25 Years of Noise theme, as well as some of their newer material that followed a celebration of becoming newly independent. Finally, to close out the night, Silverstein’s set began with a look back on the last two and a half decades, from their beginning in Burlington, Ontario to sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in the scene. This ended with a heartfelt thank you to the fans, and kicked off their 21 song set with Skin & Bones. Throughout their time on stage, the band radiated their love for the fans straight back to them. Hometown shows are always special to bands and tonight was no different. They flowed through their set with another mix of more nostalgic pieces of their discography, such as “Smile in Your Sleep”, as well as some newer releases such as “Confessions” – which is a part of their upcoming 2LP Antibloom that releases on February 21, 2025. They kicked off their encore with an acoustic rendition of My Heroine. The band is preparing to release the first part of their upcoming 2LP Antibloom on February 21, 2025.
