Charlotte, NC — A packed house at the intimate Evening Muse got a night full of energetic indie rock from The Technicolors on Saturday night.

The late show in the venue kicked off at 11pm with a 35-minute solo set from North Carolina artist Young Mister, who demonstrated his top-notch songwriting with songs like “Would It Kill You,” and “Intimate Space.” Young Mister, aka Steven Fiore, is preparing to release a new, full-band album later this year. 

Following a short break, The Technicolors took the stage and blasted into “I’ll love You Someday,” from their 2015 album, Ultraviolet Disguise. Vocalist / guitarist Brennan Smiley led the four-piece through a series of crowd pleasing songs, including the 2018 single, “Sha La La” and “Neon Roses,” from their latest full-length album, 2017’s Metaphysical. 

Guitarist Sean Silverman moved about his corner of the small stage like he was possessed, occasionally switching to a synthesizer for songs like their latest single, “I’m Not the One,” released last month. Drummer Austin Scates and bassist Nico laid down a thunderous rhythm bed throughout the group’s hour long set. 

As the band reached the home stretch, Smiley played a mostly-solo cover of the Oasis hit, “Don’t Look Back In Anger,” the audience singing along with every word. The set list concluded with “Space Cadet,” from the 2016 EP, Sweat, and as the band began to leave the stage, Smiley yelled that they were going to play one more, and tore through a sped-up rendition of the title track from Metaphysical.
