School Night Toronto // Live @ The Drake Underground – Toronto // 5.27.24 CONCERT REVIEWS FEATURED MUSIC by Quinn Nelligan - June 1, 2024June 1, 2024 Article and Photos by: Quinn Nelligan School Night is a live music series that showcases local talent across Los Angeles, Nashville, Toronto, Sydney and London. Since their beginning in 2010, artists such as Billie Eilish, Icona Pop and Hayley Kiyoko have all stepped foot on the School Night Stage. On May 27, 2024, four amazing Canadian artists joined the School Night stage to make for a lively Monday night. The first act to take the stage was Gracie Ella, a musician from Etobicoke, ON. Her presence on stage brought fantastic vibes for the beginning of the night, warming up the crowd for what was to come. Her performance was equally dreamy and energetic, even when she was interrupted by a very sweet call from her mother that was greeted by the crowd shouting a big HELLO in response. The energy continued to rise when BiBi Club, a duo from Montreal, QC, took to the stage. The two of them had a noticeable connection to each other and their music that made their heavier, electronic sound resonate with the crowd. Jules Is Dead came next, bringing a punk edge to the night all the way from Barrie, ON. Despite this being their second ever show, the four of them absolutely owned the stage; not missing a single beat. The powerful vocals paired with the heavy instruments tore through The Underground. To finish off the night, Milton, ON’s Gavin McLeod took to the stage. The folk rock influence in his music was a fantastic way to finish off the night, bringing the energy back down while still bringing in good vibes. Together with his band, Gavin creates guitar heavy songs that get stuck in your head in the best way. Overall, it was a spectacular way to spend a Monday night.
