VA Beach, VA– Boasting an impeccable musical resume, Alejandro Escovedo and his group of longtime friends and collaborators showed us how to “Burn Something Beautiful” on Tuesday night.
Escovedo’s rich and varied history initiated with San Fransisco punk rockers The Nuns deep in the 1970’s, performing alongside such legends as The Ramones and the Sex Pistols. Eventually moving on to Texas, he explored Americana and alternative country before initiating his solo recording career in the 90’s.
Fast forward to 2016 and over a dozen albums later, and Escovedo gifts us with his latest effort, co-written and produced by mates Peter Buck and Scott McCaughey, both primarily known for their groundbreaking work in R.E.M. “Burn Something Beautiful” proves that a man with several decades of experience under his belt can show a creative vitality and an inventiveness that puts today’s generation to shame.
The set list was dominated by the new material, and in particular, the powerful“Luna de Miel” showcases Escovedo’s punk roots, served with a flawless execution best enjoyed live. Check http://www.alejandroescovedo.com/ for tour dates near you.
