Atlanta, GA – The No Sun / No Moon tour made a pit stop in Heaven at the Masquerade this last Thursday evening.

Starting with a bang, Thousand Below rocked the house. This post-hardcore band from California hits hard and heavy with their energy and head-banging sound. This five-piece band opened with a few songs from their recently released album The Love You Let Too Close and closed with a newer crowd favorite “Vein”; The overall atmosphere, hard hitting drums, and guitar solos got the energy stirring for the rest of the bill.

Following Thousand Below was another California based band Silent Planet. Playing an emotion filled set, this band always take their audience to deep places with their lyrical content and raw performance. Vocalist Garrett Russell took sometime to explain the heart and passion behind many of their songs off their newest album Everything Was Sound, including playing “First Father” for the first time live on this tour. Following that they dropped crowd-pleasers from The Night God Slept that continued to bring the brutal sound and raw emotions to the entire fan base.

Switching things up Veil of Maya from Chicago brought an ear pleasing mix of metal and djent. They got the crowd moving and moshing with their soon to be released album False Idol and the classics such as “Mikasa” and “Leeloo.” This band brings the dark, the heavy, and the straight nasty with their mix of heavy vocals, crisp cleans, and an amazing stage performance.

As The Devil Wears Prada finally entered onto the stage, the crowd erupted in excitement. Screaming fans with outstretched hands greeted them as they opened with “Daughter.” Playing an array of old and new songs, this hardcore metal band from Ohio kept their high-energy performance going the entire evening. This all came to a loud and rowdy conclusion with an encore performance of “Mammoth.”

Andrea Chvatal: Since first picking up a camera while traveling overseas in 2015, Andrea Chvatal has found taking photos to be a nature combination with her love of live musical performances. Though she most enjoys the energy and unpredictability of the metal and rock genres, she has a high appreciation of live music in general. Her favorite aspect to capture is the raw emotion behind both the artist and the crowd at each show.
