Cincinnati, OH – On November 5, cozy Top Cats hosted a pair of female fronted bands that exuded positivity, liveliness and righteous dance-worthy fun.
The evening started with Veridia, a Nashville-based alternative rock band, touring with headliner Icon For Hire on the East Coast portion of The Icon Army tour. Vocalist Deena Jakoub rocked bold bi-colored black/white pants as she moved easily about the stage in some killer boots. The band’s uplifting message was about finding strength, thankfulness and hope. Jakoub’s vocal delivery was on point (as was her smile) during soft ballads and kick-ass rock songs. She showed both a tenderness and a fierceness, and completely warmed the crowd for the headliner.
Icon For Hire is a Decatur, Illinois rock band with a loyal following, the “Icon Army,” who were primed to enjoy the show. Vocalist Ariel Bloomer and guitarist Shawn Jump make a formidable duo, with good karma and friendly interaction. Bloomer is magnetic and charming, whether she’s wearing black leather or a full length pink faux fur coat (to match her pink hair, of course). The band’s brand of rock has a good pop / hip-hop vibe, enhanced by Bloomer’s physicality and flair for dynamic expression.
Icon For Hire gives a happy, fun-loving performance with terrific energy and interaction with the audience. Several fans were invited on-stage to sing along, and wow, did they sing! Jakoub was brought back onstage for a beautiful acoustic duet with Bloomer, as well.
The show was terrific fun and highly recommended. The tour continues stateside through November, then a bit of a break until February, when Icon For Hire hits Europe. Check their website for tour dates: www.iconforhire.net.
