Louisville, KY –On November 9, 2024, the Mercury Ballroom and a near sellout crowd witnessed an electrifying performance of indie rock royalty, Cold War Kids. The band, known for their soulful lyrics and energetic stage presence, delivered a concert that left the audience in a sweaty happy mess.

The band opened with the anthemic “Love Is Mystical,” setting the tone for a night of musical roulette. The crowd was taken on a journey through Cold War Kids’ discography, with hits like “Miracle Mile,” “So Tied Up,” and “Louder Than Ever” just as you would expect from a band who’s crossing the USA with their, More 20 Years Tour.

One of the highlights of the evening was the performance of fan-favorite, “Hang Me Up to Dry,”  The band’s setlist was a balanced blend of old classics and new favorites, showcasing evolving musicians who remain connected to their roots.

Cold War Kids’ performance of “Hospital Beds” was a poignant moment, with lead singer Nathan Willett’s haunting vocals exploring themes of vulnerability, loss, and suffering, accompanied by its narrative of emotional health as well as physical mortality. The band closed the main set with “All This Could Be Yours,” following up with the spectacular encore, “Something Is Not Right With Me.”

Even if you are unfamiliar with Cold War Kids music, they are consistent, authentic and connected to their audience. It was a great night to catch them. There is information about the band their music and their current tour at their website, http://www.coldwarkids.com  .
