Fear Factory // Live @ NorVa // 4.3.16 CONCERT REVIEWS FEATURED MUSIC by Wendy Podmenik Woodell - April 8, 2016April 8, 2016 Article by: Wendy Podmenik Darugar Photos by: Glenn Woodell and Wendy Podmenik Darugar NORFOLK, VA– Classic metal artists Fear Factory swung through Norfolk on Sunday night, headlining an all metal lineup that included Soilwork, Spades and Blades, and Martyrd. Drawing heavy inspiration from dark Sci-fi themes, Fear Factory is known for a being a pioneer in the industrial metal genre with experimental vocals and machine-gun rapid drumming techniques. The current tour is in tribute to the 20th anniversary of their groundbreaking second studio album, Demanufacture, and over half of their set was devoted to playing the “Terminator” influenced thematic composition in its entirety. Swedish melodic metal Soilwork accompanied Fear Factory on this tour to promote their latest album, 2015’s The Ride Majestic. Up and comers Spades and Blades tore through their set on stage with theatrical jumps, spins and at times band members climbed off the stage and played right in the middle of the audience, making for a memorable experience. Martyrd opened the evening and will be accompanying this line up through mid-April.
