Steel Panther // Live @ the NorVa // 7.29.16 CONCERT REVIEWS FEATURED MUSIC by Wendy Podmenik Woodell - August 10, 2016August 10, 2016 Article by Wendy Podmenik Darugar Photos by Glenn Woodell and Wendy Podmenik Darugar Steel Panther, ranked as the 725th top rock band in Muncie, Indiana at a local poll taken at Big Red’s Barbershop and Ice Cream Parlor, opened up their expansive world-wide tour at our favorite venue, the NorVa. Armed with fresh profane musings on life and bassist Lexxi’s sweet new delicate pink shade of lipstick, the boys showed Norfolk a good time and the women of Norfolk reciprocated in full, over and over. Lead vocalist Michael Starr took pause on stage to reflect on the many reasons the band enjoys playing in Norfolk, not the least of which was the front rows of the crowd being packed with our local ladies. “Smells like fish in here….maybe like salmon..?” Which is exactly the sort of unrestrained language loyal audiences enjoy and expect. Definitely beyond an “R” rating, Steel Panther’s parodies, improvisation and joyous raunch-filled music draws fans up on stage to join them in the fun. In addition to their talent in comedy, these men are seasoned musicians with a quick wit and an obvious love for what they do, show after show. Give Steel Panther a spin and check them out on tour when they roll into your area…but don’t take your daughters, or they will.
